Clinical Effect of Cinmethacin (Mepix^(¢ç))

Abstract
Cinmethacin is a derivative of indomethacin in which the p-chlorobenzoyl group is replaced by a cinnamoyl group.
It possesses pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties but with a lower toxicity.
Ninety-three patients were treated with Cinmethacin from November 1984 to June 1985. They were given 900mg of Cinmethacin, t.i.d. by mouth for an average of 17 days.
Results were as follows.
1. Fifty-eight patients (62.4%) were improved, especially 77. 5% in degenerative arthritis and 78.6% in rheumatoid arthritis.
2. Mean improvement score reduced from 5.31 to 3.47.
3. There were 12 patients (12.9%) of side effects, but these were mid and transitory which were subsided by discontinuance of medication.
